Eddie Peterson King of the Hammers Racer Passes

Eddie PetersonEdward Peterson born Sept. 3, 1971 passed July 12, 2015

From a young age Eddie enjoyed the outdoors from water skiing at the river to dirtbike riding at the desert with his family. His love for the outdoors and power sports grew to much more than a simple hobby, it grew into a lifelong passion that he shared with his wife Sully.  They enjoyed a mobile home and boat in Parker for 18+ yrs. Eddie worked as a diesel mechanic for the county. This mechanical background allowed him to pursue another activity that he thrived at, welding and fabrication. 9 years ago Eddie hand built a Grand Cherokee that eventually landed him at the Hammer trails. Watching the race in 2007 planted the seed that competing in KOH was something he wanted to do. After being diagnosed with cancer in July 2012, he knew this would be something that he needed to cross off his bucket list. When decided that he would race Eddie asked Sully to be his co-driver, this would be something they would accomplish together like all things in their live. They bought a race proven car and Dave Cole gave them a spot in the 2013 KOH race. After a tough 15 hours on the course, they finished 27th. They also competed again in 2014.

If you had the pleasure to meet Eddie and become his friend you would find him to be a charismatic guy that had this magnetism. He was the first guy to help fix something on the trail or at home. He was truly a hero to all he came in contact with. He was a loving son, husband, father, brother, and uncle.
